This is another favorite comfort food of mine. The perfect mix of egg noodles and ground beef, covered in a rich and tasty tomato sauce. This classic dish is so easy to make, yet the family will think that you spent all afternoon making dinner for them.
This dish is so cheesy it is automatically very kid friendly. The hubby loves it too. This is also the perfect dish to add to a meal rotation throughout the month. No one would argue eating this twice.
Classic Beef Noodle Casserole does not take long to make, which makes it a perfect last minute dish during the busy week.
If you are like me, you usually have a pound of ground beef handy for last minute meal changes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use different noodles?
Of course you can. Not realizing that I had no egg noodles, I ended up using elbow macaroni and it tasted just the same.
How do I store this casserole?
All you need to do is be sure to place it in an airtight container and place it in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Can I freeze this casserole?
Definitely, keep it in an airtight container and place it in the refrigerator for up to 3 months.
Can I add vegetables to the casserole?
Anytime that you can get kids to eat vegetables willingly, go for it! I have said it before, I generally grate carrots and other vegetables and mix it with ground beef in dishes. Of course, I also have a side dish of vegetables on the side so these smart kids do not suspect anything. You could add corn, mushrooms or even green beans. I have a friend who tossed in some cauliflower and broccoli. She stated it tasted divine.
What should I serve with this?
A nice fresh green salad with chopped vegetables would be good, I like to add the famous corn casserole with this Beef Noodle Casserole. I also enjoy having a loaf of crispy crusted bread that will soak up the sauce on my plate. It makes the dish perfect. My darling daughter enjoys garlic cheese bread with hers.
