You really could not ask for an easier dessert to make if I begged you to. This dessert is so extremely simple, it is moist, delicious, chocolatey and tastes like cherries.
This Cherry Dr. Pepper cake is a way to liven up a simple cake by making it extraordinary. The family absolutely adores me when I make this cake.
You could actually turn this into a layer cake and use it for a birthday, a baby shower, any type of celebration really. Leave it in a 9×13 pan and it is perfect for any day of the week.
I really cannot explain my logic over the layered cake and the flat cakes. It is strange, but hey it works. The point is that you can make this however you would like it to be.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Can I use Diet soda when I make this cake?
I would truly skip the diet soda and go for full flavor. Really, it would not make much of a difference anyway.
How do I store this cake?
Once the cake is cooled, you can frost it, cover it with plastic wrap and let it sit on the counter for 2 or 3 days. If you keep it in the refrigerator, it will last 4 to 5 days.
Could I use a flavor other than chocolate for the cake?
Personally, I have never done this, but you can certainly try it.
