This dessert is right up my alley. It is simple, refreshing and truly a delight to eat. It takes very few recipes, which are likely already in your pantry. This is a dessert you will turn to to make for family, friends, potlucks or parties.
The Jello pie can also be switched to a different flavor. In other words, you can make this versatile dessert to be any color you want, to match any holiday or party theme.
This recipe calls for a graham cracker crust, you could use virtually any type of crust you want to use. Oreo, butter flavor, flaky pie crust or simple graham cracker crust. Take it one step further and purchase one that is already made for you. You can use whipped topping as a garnish and also fresh fruit.
This pie does take a while to set properly before you can actually slice and serve it without it falling all over. Allow for three to four hours at minimum before expecting to eat or serve it.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Can I use a different jello?
You could use lime, orange or any flavor jello you want to use. I try to match up the color of jello with fresh fruit, or for the holiday that I am making it for. For instance if it is for Halloween, I will use an oreo crust with an orange jello and top with some candy corn pieces.
Can I make my own crust?
Of course you can. Again, I have just made the recipes as simple as I can so that people who do not have a whole lot of time can still enjoy it. Most people enjoy and prefer all items as homemade, I am right there with you. Sometimes though, there is not enough time in a day to do everything I want to do.
Can I add fresh fruit?
You could slice or dice up some strawberries and add them to the whipped topping and jello mix.
