This is a crack dip, what isn’t cracked now? Anything that tastes this wonderful is addicting and therefore earns the name cracked. Granted, it is not as addictive as the real crack, but very very close!

It doesn’t matter anyway! Cracked can also mean that it is jacked up with the flavor of bacon. Which this dip most certainly is! There are so many ways that you could serve this dip. I am constantly looking for ideas, if you come up with one, let me know!

Meantime, be warned, you may need to make a double or triple batch. It is possible that everyone has the recipe stashed somewhere in the cook books, however, be prepared and bring copies of the recipe with you when you take the dip to an event.

Frequently Asked Questions:

            Why is it called crack?

Crack is a play on addictive foods or other things. Personally, I call foods cracked up if they contain crumbled bacon. Take it with a grain of salt, there are many who take offense to the term.

What can I put this dip on?

This dip works great on slices of toasted baguette bread, large chips that you can use as a scoop, even vegetables taste phenomenal with this dip. You could also add it on top of crackers, baked potatoes, virtually anything.

Do I have to add the jalapeno peppers?

No, you do not have to add the jalapeno pepper. If you prefer, you could add half the amount or leave it out completely. I use ¼ can of chopped green chilis. That is just enough heat to make it super yummy, but not too spicy.

Can I use a different shredded cheese?

You could use an Italian blend, a Mexican blend, mozzarella or even shredded Pepper Jack if you wanted to. I firmly believe that any shredded cheese would be good in this dip.
