Controlling our weight is an issue for many of us. Me, being a food blogger, I have the same issues. I wanted to control the weight, without losing flavor like so many diet plans do. Finding and creating the recipes that give us the flavor without all the calories or points, or even high carbohydrates can be a challenge.
I have found my way around many of those issues. These pancakes are fantabulous! They are filled with flavor and still allow me to have some of my favorite pancakes.
Obviously, these will not taste totally like your plain everyday pancake, they are not that pancake. The key to controlling my weight is to burn more calories than I eat. And you know what? With a few simple changes, it really is not that difficult. These pancakes are made with banana and a couple of other ingredients that limit the calories.
There are a few ingredients that are optional, the vanilla, baking powder and the cinnamon. I like fluffier types of pancakes, so I use baking powder. The vanilla and the cinnamon just add another touch of flavor to these.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Do these even taste good?
If you love bananas the way I do, these will become your new favorite type of pancake.
Can I make these ahead?
I have not done more than what is needed for breakfast. I believe if you wrap them tightly and place them in the refrigerator, they will last for up to 3 days.
Can I freeze these pancakes?
If you place them in an airtight packaging such as freezer bags or an airtight container, they should last up to one month in the freezer. If you can avoid the freezer, do so. Bananas do not do well as they age.
What do I top these pancakes with?
Honestly, they are so flavorful they do not need to be topped. However, peanut butter and berries are what I usually have. You could also use 1 tbsp yogurt in place of the peanut butter. I prefer to eat these plain when I have used vanilla and cinnamon. The flavor is so good!
