Cheeseburger Sub Sandwiches

Admittedly, this recipe came about quite by accident. My family wanted burgers for dinner and I did not feel like going to the store and I was out of buns. I thought about it for a short time and figured I could still give them burgers, just not how they expected them.

Now I am not going to tell you that these are the same, obviously they are not a regular burger. However, they are what is asked for a lot in my house now.

I told you that I was out of buns and too lazy to run to the store, so I opened the freezer and saw that I did have some submarine sandwich buns in front of me. So I grabbed them and the rest is now history, of course I will share it with you!

I made a special mayonnaise sauce and absolutely fell in love with it and have managed to keep a small jar of this in my refrigerator at all times.

Frequently Asked Questions:

            Could I use bratwurst buns?

I would stick with the sub sandwich rolls or hoagie buns. They are made to be sturdier, which means that they will hold all this yummy goodness.

Do I have to use the special mayonnaise sauce?

Absolutely not! All recipes that I post are subject to your choices. However, you should at least taste this sauce, like me, you will use it much more than you think you will.

            Can I freeze these?

Do not freeze them once they are put together. They just develop a different texture on the sub rolls that may not be pleasing.
