It’s always good to have restaurant food, there are people who love it so madly. The fact that food like Chicken and dumplings as that of Cracker Barrel can be made at home is not going to be unbelievable anymore. It’s true that we can now make the chicken and dumplings at home just like that of the Cracker Barrel.
Cracker Barrel is a fantastic restaurant, we used to go and even though it wasn’t that frequent, we have never missed the vacation time. Vacation was the must go time for us.
Now, among all the food which was there in the menu of the Cracker Barrel, the most favorite one was the Chicken and Dumplings. The taste of it was just so mind blowing. I have made this a lot of times in my home, and it was just amazing in taste.
Some also loved the chicken in biscuit style which was Chicken Bisquick. This is my version of the Chicken and Dumplings which is absolutely like the Chicken and Dumplings of the Cracker Barrel.
This is the stove top Chicken and Dumplings recipe, but one can also go with the pressure cooker style and even that is good in taste. You must be knowing about this too as it was pinned 1300000 times!!
How to make copycat Cracker barrel chicken and dumplings??
This recipe starts with adding some broth, ribs of celery, onion, and chicken to a stock pot or oven top. You have to then start with the shimmering. You will definitely be surprised seeing how much flavour that adds to our dish.
Now, until that shimmering continues, you can make the dumplings get ready. It is really easy to make the dumplings. You can even check out the old recipe which l put regarding the preparation of the dumplings. But it is really easy to prepare the one ,even my kids help me to do it. All you have to do is to prepare the soft Dough. Now roll it out nicely and make it thin, then cut it into strips and squares of whatever shape you want for your dumplings.
The recipe which l shared was of the instant pot chicken and frozen dumplings one where the dumplings were used from the freezer of the grocery store.
Can you freeze Chicken and Dumplings!?
It’s not that unbelievable that yes ,you can easily freeze the chicken and dumplings. I have successfully done it. Yes, you heard it right that l have successfully frozen this type of Chicken and Dumplings. So, it is quite possible to do so. The flat, dense noodles are better in freezing or they land better in freezing than some types of the chicken and dumplings.
Can l use the pre-cooked chicken with these dumplings!?
This is all fine to use the earlier cooked chicken to go with these dumplings. After all, who wants to waste the chicken in any way? So, if you are going to make use of the pre-cooked chicken to go with the dumplings, you have to keep certain things in mind. When you are adding the broth, celery, onions and making them shimmer, then shimmer the dumplings along with these just after the dumplings are ready. Now, just 5 minutes before the dumplings get ready, remove the onion pieces, celery and add the chicken in it to get warm through.

2 quarts chicken broth
3 cups cooked chicken
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter
1 pinch salt
2 cups flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
How make Cracker Barrel Chicken And Dumplings
FIRST STEP:
Now, in a bowl, take the flour, Baking powder, and salt to make it all get mixed properly.
Add the pieces of the butter in it with the fork or pastry blender.

Stir in the milk , until the mixture gets ready and the dough becomes the ball.
SECOND STEP:
All these have to hence, stir properly and well so that the final Dough becomes extra soft.
Now, heavily flour a work surface, that means just spread the flour on the surface where you are going to prepare the chicken and dumplings.

THIRD STEP:
Now, you will need to use the pin or something to cut the dumplings with.
I love to do it with the pizza cutter and even the small spatula to do it, one can see which one suits them.
FOURTH STEP:
The small spatula, l use, is to lift the Dumplings off the cutting surface.
Now, roll the dough out and dip the flour in it and cut the dumplings into any shape.
FIFTH STEP:
Use a spatula to lift them on a heavily floured plate and keep flouring between the layers. Bring broth to boil , drop the dumplings, keep extra flour on them.
Cook for 20 minutes and add cooked chicken.
