Meatloaf-Philly Cheesecake Style

Do you remember the days when meatloaf was the dreaded meal of the week? Our mother’s made it using the leftovers from the week and it always tasted dreadful. That was the way of saving money back then.  Now, meatloaf is no longer dreadful. So many recipes have come out that allow you to play around with the ingredients and make it taste wonderful! I have always loved meatloaf, except the leftover type.

I recently came across a Sweet and Sour meatloaf at a friend’s home. I have been trying to replicate that recipe ever since. That is one of those recipes they will not share. It had been passed down in the family and is a secret. So, all I can do is continue trying to make it the same way.

Anyway, this recipe is one of those that was developed to get people liking meatloaf. It is a combination of a Philly Cheese Steak and comforting meatloaf. It partially came from a stuffed meatloaf, with spinach and mozzarella and then a big craving for an original Philly sandwich.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Can I freeze the meatloaf?

Tightly wrapped in plastic wrap and then foil will keep the meatloaf good for up to 1 month in the freezer.

What can I do with leftovers?

If you have any left, keep it in a tightly closed container in the refrigerator and it can be used for sandwiches, seared in hot butter and served with mashed potatoes and gravy.

Can I use different cheeses?

Yes, there are many people who do not like Provolone cheese. Feel free to use mozzarella or even cheddar cheese.
