            Cake:

                        ⅔ cup Granulated Sugar

                        ⅓ cup Butter, softened and unsalted

                        2 large eggs

                        ½ cup Applesauce

                        2 tsp Vanilla Extract

                        2 tsp Baking Powder

                        1 tsp Cinnamon

                        1 cup Sour Cream

                        2 ⅓ cup Flour, All Purpose

            Filling:

                        ½ cup Granulated Sugar

                        ½ tsp Cinnamon

                        2 Granny Smith Apples, peeled and diced

                        4 tsp Water

                        3 tbsp Cornstarch

                        ½ cup Brown Sugar

                        ½ tsp Cinnamon

                        ⅛ tsp Nutmeg

            Icing:

                        ½ cup Milk

                        1 tsp Vanilla

                        2 cups Confectioners Sugar

How to make The Best Apple Fritter Cake

Preheat the oven to 350*

Liberally grease a 9×13 baking pan

In a mixing bowl, cream the sugar and butter together until it is smooth

Add in the eggs, applesauce and vanilla to the mixing bowl with the creamed butter and beat together

Mix in the cinnamon, baking powder and flour until it is well combined

Add the sour cream and beat until the mixture is smooth

In a skillet over medium heat place the apples, water, cinnamon, sugar,  cornstarch and nutmeg

Cook until the Apples have softened and the sauce has thickened

In another bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon

Pour half the batter into the bottom of the prepared pan

Cover the batter with the apple filling

Sprinkle half of the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture over the apples

Pour the remaining batter over the top of the apples

Top with the remainder of the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture

Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until cooked through

In a mixing bowl combine the ingredients for the icing and beat until smooth

Once you remove the Apple Fritter cake from the oven, pour the icing over the cake
