This recipe is simply another take on the classic Chicken Divan. It is a classic and loved by so many, it cannot be ignored by me. I have to give you my take on this deliciousness. Generations of families have had this on their dinner table and now it is even Keto approved. Yes, I have gone ahead and created this recipe as a low carb version of the classic dish.
Making this with my kids brought back some great memories for me. I recall being in charge of using the grater to shred the cheese. My sister was in charge of opening the cream of chicken soup and mixing it.
This dish is a one baking dish meal. It has protein packed chicken, yummy and healthy brocolli and a creamy sauce. Then it is topped with cheddar cheese. That make this virtually the perfect meal.
Frequently Asked Questions:
What should I serve as a side dish for this recipe?
Thankfully you do not necessarily need to think about that. With this recipe, everything is in one pan. This dish qualifies for Keto, so if you are participating in Keto, there should be nothing more served. However, if like me, you want to relive those memories, serve it over rice.
Can I substitute another vegetable for the broccoli?
I have never done so, so I do not know how it would turn out. You could try it with cauliflower, maybe, let me know how it turns out.
What can I add to give it a kick of heat?
You could mix in a drop or two of red hot sauce with the soup mix, or you could sprinkle in some crushed red pepper flakes. My brother makes this dish using pepper jack cheese and adds a touch of cayenne pepper to the bread crumbs.
Can I use a different soup?
Chicken divan is known for having the cream of chicken soup in it originally, it has been changed to cream of mushroom and made that way for as long as I can remember. When using cream of Mushroom soup, you could also mix in some chopped mushrooms with the broccoli.
