Hamburger Mushroom Bake

I bring to you a hearty dish that is filling and comforting. This is a warm dish perfect for those chilly fall evenings. It includes items that are likely in your kitchen already. It will taste like a gourmet meal. If you love easy to make meals, this is the one to keep at the front of your recipes.

I changed it up a little to give it a more healthy side to it. I left out the heavy cream, the fattening bread crumbs and lowered the calories.

We retain that down home warming casserole taste without ruining your health efforts.

There are ingredients that some people have allergies to, be aware of who you are serving.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Can I use a different type of meat?

To be honest, I have been known to use venison or elk in this casserole. You could also switch up sausage or chicken and not lose any of the flavor.

Can I add a topping to this dish?

You could use seasoned bread crumbs, or crush Ritz crackers and sprinkle on in the last 10 minutes.

Can I use any mushrooms?

I normally use button or sliced portobello mushrooms, you could use any type of mushroom that you like. Shitake, cremini or buttons, portobello and porcini all taste wonderful in this dish.

Tips:

This dish can be served with a plate of white rice,  or with homemade mashed potatoes. A dinner salad on the side makes it the perfect combination and filling meal. We usually have a roasted vegetable such as asparagus or green beans, and some homemade garlic toast as a side.

This dish is a meal itself, it never hurts to add some extra vegetables in your meal. I also tend to add some onions in the skillet when I am browning the ground beef. Saute until they turn opaque and are softened.  This is a very versatile meal that you can add to, using basically anything your family enjoys.
