Baked beans are a magical delight. They often get a bad rap for tasting bland and the texture is not a well accepted one. These are better baked beans that I promise your family will love. A great baked bean dish, from what we had been taught, starts with the dried beans. They need to soak, then you can cook them for a long period of time. Well, not with this recipe.
I got this recipe from a good friend of mine. Of course, I did change it up a tiny bit, to make it mine.
There are three different types of beans in this recipe, lots of fiber, lots of protein and a truly immense amount of flavor. This baked bean dish will become a favorite for your group.
We give you a little spice, and a little heat. The heat is up to you entirely. If you like it hotter than add a bit of cayenne pepper, or an extra splash of hot sauce.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Can I use different types of beans?
I have tried some different varieties, I do have to say the combination in this recipe is my favorite. You could use Chili beans for an extra zap. I have seen some people substitute Navy beans. Do what makes it yours, what your family likes.
Can I leave out the Hotness?
There is no rule stating that you have to add heat or spice to this recipe. The Red Hot sauce is an ingredient that my family loves, it goes into pretty much everything that I make.
Can I use a type of meat other than bacon?
If you want to make this a one pot meal, you can certainly add ground beef, ground sausage or even venison.
