Simple Four Ingredient Chicken Dish

This sweet, yet tangy chicken dish has been a popular request for quite some time. I have since updated the recipe and the photos so you can have a good look at it. There is nothing that quite equals any sweet and sour dish in my opinion. I could seriously eat any type of meat in a sweet and sour style. I just love the flavors combined.

I love to make this for Church potlucks. Not just because it is only four ingredients, but it is also easy to make, and economical.

            What makes this so great is that you could whip it together, cover it and then when you get home, take it from the refrigerator and bake it. Chicken is almost the perfect meat.

I am a beef girl, but I do love juicy chicken. You will definitely have juicy and tasty chicken with this dish. It will become one of those meals you go to when you can’t decide on another one.

            What do I serve with this dish?

I made a nice loaded dinner salad. I add in cherry tomatoes, croutons, onions, cucumbers and cheese.

            What cut of chicken should I use?

I have made this for a church potluck using thighs and drumsticks. It is a very popular dish anywhere I bring this to. If it is my family, I generally stick with chicken thighs.

            How do I store this?

This dish can be kept in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days.

            Can I freeze this dish without any issues?

You can freeze this dish by wrapping in plastic wrap and aluminum foil then sticking it in an airtight container. It will last for 2 to 3 months.  Placing it in an airtight container alone is okay, but could cause freezer burn.

What do you need to make Simple Four Ingredient Chicken Dish

            8 chicken thighs, you can use all pieces of a cut up chicken if you choose.

            1 small jar of apricot preserves

            1 package of dry french onion soup mix

            1 bottle of Russian dressing

How to make Simple Four Ingredient Chicken Dish

FIRST STEP:

In a mixing bowl, combine the Russian dressing, onion soup mix, apricot preserves

Stir to combine well

SECOND STEP:

Preheat the oven to 400*

Lightly spray a 9 x 13 baking pan

THIRD STEP:

Set the chicken into the pan with space in between

Pour the sauce mix over the chicken

FOURTH STEP:

Place the pan in the oven and roast for 1 hour to 1 ΒΌ hours.

Baste the chicken quite often as it is in the oven.

Test the thickest part of the chicken with a meat thermometer. When it reads 165* The chicken is fully cooked.

Tips

This sweet and tangy 4 ingredient chicken is a super easy meal to make. It takes hardly any time to make. It is easy peasy, super tasty and well liked by everyone. This dish could easily be served with plain white rice, fried rice or even American Fried potatoes.
